República Dominicana participa en Cumbre Internacional contra “Secuestro de datos” en Washington

Santo Domingo. – República Dominicana se unió a la iniciativa de la Casa Blanca, en Washington D. C., junto a otros 37 países para la celebración de la Cumbre Internacional contra el Ransomware, actividad que tiene como propósito mejorar la ciberseguridad y la de los ciudadanos.

En la jornada, el país estuvo representado por el viceministro de Agenda Digital del Ministerio de la Presidencia (MINPRE), José David Montilla, para continuar fomentando la capacitación en temas de la seguridad en el espacio.

República Dominicana es el único país del Caribe que se ha sumado a la citada iniciativa para contrarrestar la propagación de este mal que afecta a tantos sectores.

La vicepresidenta de Estados Unidos, Kamala Harris, quien encabeza la cumbre, indicó que el Ransomware afecta a miles de empresas y personas cada año, por lo que su administración reunió a 37 socios globales y al sector privado para contrarrestar la propagación e impacto de este sistema maligno.

“Juntos mejoraremos nuestra ciberseguridad y protegeremos a nuestros ciudadanos”, enfatizó la funcionaria a través de una publicación compartida en la red social Twitter.

Sobre el secuestro de datos

El Ransomware (secuestro de datos) es un tipo de programa dañino que restringe el acceso a determinadas partes o archivos del sistema operativo infectado y pide un rescate a cambio de quitar esta restricción.

Algunos tipos de Ransomware cifran los archivos del sistema operativo para inutilizar el dispositivo y coaccionar al usuario a pagar el rescate.
