Santo Domingo.- El ahorro total de los dominicanos en las entidades de intermediación financiera supervisadas por la Superintendencia de Bancos (SB) ascendió a RD 2.22 billones al cierre del segundo semestre de 2022, equivalentes a 41.2 % del producto interno bruto (PIB) nominal.
De esta forma, las captaciones experimentaron un incremento de RD 258,982 millones, que suponen un crecimiento interanual de 13.2 %.
La SB ofreció las informaciones a propósito de celebrarse este lunes 31 de octubre el Día Mundial del Ahorro, que también coincide con la publicación del informe Tendencias del ahorro en República Dominicana: Perspectiva desde las captaciones del sistema financiero, correspondiente al primer semestre del año.
Las captaciones del público continúan siendo el principal soporte de recursos económicos para la realización de las actividades de intermediación financiera, representando el 87.1 % del pasivo total del sistema.
Su incremento afirma la confianza en el sistema financiero y la importancia del ahorro nacional como uno de los principales motores de la recuperación económica, tras la crisis generada por la pandemia de COVID-19.
En el informe se destaca que los hogares son el principal depositante, con el 52.4 % del total de las captaciones a junio pasado.
Instrumentos de ahorro
Al desagregar las captaciones del sistema por tipo de instrumento, se observa que el 43.3 % del balance total está colocado en cuentas de ahorro, seguido por depósitos a plazo y cuentas corrientes, cuya participación en el total de captaciones asciende a 24 % y 17.9 %, respectivamente. Los demás instrumentos representaron el 14.8 %.
Los bancos múltiples concentran el 89.8 % del total de las captaciones (RD 1.99 billones). El resto se distribuye en 8.4 % de las asociaciones de ahorros y préstamos, 1.5 % de los bancos de ahorro y crédito, mientras que las corporaciones de créditos y entidades públicas de intermediación financiera cuentan con 0.2 % y 0.1 %, respectivamente.
Al 30 de junio de este año, las captaciones en moneda extranjera representaban un 29.1 % del total, valor considerado estable dentro de su rango de fluctuación histórica. En este renglón, el dólar estadounidense mostró una participación del 98.1 %, dejando en un lejano segundo lugar al euro, con 1.9%.
En cuanto a la distribución geográfica de las captaciones, el este del país y la región metropolitana presentaron el mayor incremento interanual, con una expansión del 16.1 % y 15.7 %, respectivamente, seguidas de las provincias del norte y sur del país con tasas de crecimiento de 6.4 % y 5.2 % cada una.
Desde el punto de vista de las captaciones por género, se puede observar que los balances en cada tipo de instrumento tienden a ser mayores en las cuentas cuyos titulares son identificados como hombres, reflejando la persistencia en la brecha de género. Tanto para los hombres como las mujeres, el instrumento de captación que presenta el mayor balance son las cuentas de ahorro. A junio de 2022, estos saldos eran de RD 392 mil millones y RD 322 mil millones, respectivamente.
