SANTO DOMINGO, R.D. -El ministro de Turismo, David Collado, aseguró que pese a las tormentas de nieve que vienen afectando varias ciudades estadounidenses y en Canadá, República Dominicana superará este año la barrera de los 7 millones en llegada de turistas, la cifra más alta de visitantes que habrá recibido el país.
Reveló que pese a la situación del clima en Estados Unidos, el principal mercado emisor de turistas hacia el país, "solo ayer (miércoles) llegaron 30 mil visitantes extranjeros".
El ministro Collado se refirió al tema de la llegada de visitantes tras sostener una reunión en su despacho con los representantes del Gabinete de Turismo en materia de seguridad.
Manifestó que como producto de la evaluación en la reunión, hasta el momento, no se ha producido ningún hecho lamentable con turistas en los diferentes destinos, ni hoteles, como tampoco en aeropuertos.
Citó como balance positivo el hecho de que las reservaciones están al tope en todos los hoteles del país, al igual que las aerolíneas, por lo que “vamos bien”.
Collado precisó que el presidente Luis Abinader pidió que el Gabinete de Turismo en materia de seguridad se reuniera para reforzar las medidas preventivas en los polos turísticos por el incremento de las festividades de fin de año.
A este encuentro de los organismos de seguridad turística con el ministro Collado asistieron los directores de la Policía Nacional, Mayor general Eduardo Alberto Then, del Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Aeroportuaria, coronel piloto Floreal Suárez Martínez; de la Policía Turística (POLITUR), general Minoru Matsunaga.
También estuvieron presentes el vicealmirante José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa, presidente de la Dirección Nacional de Control de Drogas (DNCD) y el general Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, director de la DIGESETT.
